Endless Borders

The narrative unfolds in Balochistan, a remote village on the border of Iran and Afghanistan, where connectivity is scarce. Ahmad, an idealistic exile and educator, devotes himself to teaching the local community. However, his partner Niloofar has endured imprisonment in Tehran for similar acts against the State, leading to tension between them that transcends the social realm and delves into personal struggles. Ahmad’s path intersects with that of a family escaping the Taliban, exposing the complex dynamics of age and gender within the group, which in turn spark additional challenges and complexities. Among these is a fleeting “lovers on the run” scenario reminiscent of Murnau’s timeless classic “Tabu” (1931).
